Food Allergy Form
Students with food allergies that wish to use school meals must have a Special Dietary Needs form filled out and signed by a physician. Forms must be submitted to the office of Food and Nutrition Service. Accommodations can only be made through this form. This form must be updated every year to ensure accuracy. Since all schools have vegetarian options available, parents do not need to fill out a form for this option.

2025 - 2026 SCHOOL YEAR
Good afternoon, Bemis Parents and Guardians.
I am writing to inform you of our registration process that was designed to streamline our student information gathering. Please follow this link for directions to logon to PowerSchool’s Unified Classroom to complete and submit your child’s required information for the 2025-2026 school year. IMPORTANT: The deadline to submit the completed forms is 12:00 noon Monday, August 18, 2025.
On Wednesday, August 20, 2025, we will be hosting our Spartan Registration Day events. Students will have their school photos taken (please wear school appropriate clothing for the photographs) and receive their school identification card and lanyard. 7th graders and new 8th grade students will be issued their school owned laptop for this school year. Student schedules for the 2025-2026 school year can be viewed using your PowerSchool account just prior to the Spartan Registration days. NO SCHEDULE CHANGES WILL BE ALLOWED!
All returning Bemis students who will be in the 8th grade kept their laptops over the summer. New Bemis 8th graders will receive their school issued laptop computers and a charger during the 8th grade registration on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, from 8:00-10:00 am. All new Bemis Virtual Academy 8th grade students and all 7th grade Virtual Academy students will receive their laptops on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, from 8:00-10:00 am. All Bemis seventh graders will receive their UCS laptops during the registration session on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, from 11:00 am-3:00 pm.
IMPORTANT: We will NOT distribute UCS laptop computers to students who do not complete the required forms in PowerSchool!
UCS will continue to offer insurance for district laptops. I am strongly encouraging the purchase of the $20.00 insurance plan using PaySchools, which can be accessed by following this link: https://mi50010997.schoolwires.net/device Please note: the final date to enroll in the optional device insurance program is Friday, September 5, 2025.
Since all required “books” will be digital, below is a very general supply list:
• A string backpack for students to carry their laptop, charger, earphones
• A notebook and writing instrument(s)
A limited amount of Bemis string backpacks will be available for purchase on August 20, 2025, for $20.00 each.
During the registration session your child will have their photo taken for their school identification card they are expected to wear at all times during the school day. Please access the link to the Kaiser Studio order form to choose your child’s school photographs package. Bemis ID code for Kaiser Studio orders: 2526BEMISJR
During the 2025-2026 school year, students will be sharing lockers with another student and the lockers will be assigned the first day of school during their sixth hour class. Students will be able to use full-sized backpacks to bring items to and from school, but they must leave them in their locker and use a string backpack during the school day. Since students will not have their locker until the last hour of the first day of school, they may use a full-sized backpack to carry their lunch and gym clothes if needed all day on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.
Please take the time to review our 2025-2026 Utica Community Schools Parent and Student Handbook with your child before their first day of school this year. This is an important document outlining policies and procedures that all students must follow during the school day and at school sponsored activities/events.
This school year, breakfast and lunch will be offered to all students. Additional food and drink items will be available for purchase. Please follow the link to access the UCS Family Portal at https://utica.familyportal.cloud/ for more information.
Please follow the link to order your 2025-2026 Bemis Junior High School Yearbook beginning at $38.00 each.
Also linked to this message is the 2025-2026 MHSAA Medical History/Pre-participation Physical form. Please be aware that our team sports require a participation fee application which will be due once final sport teams have been determined following our tryout processes.
On Wednesday, August 20, we will have medical doctors and medical interns who will provide physicals for a donation of $25.00. Eighth graders can obtain a sports physical from 8:00-10:00 pm. Seventh graders will be able to secure an athletic physical from 11:00-3:00 pm.
For those who cannot attend their assigned registration times, we will issue laptops to those students who require one the first day of school, Tuesday, August 26, 2024, during their first hour class. School identification cards and school photos will be taken during picture retake day, which is Wednesday, September 15, 2025. A temporary student photo identification card will be issued to students during the first day of school.
On behalf of the staff at Bemis Junior High School, we are looking forward to seeing our returning students as 8th graders and meeting our new students on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.
Mr. Yaw
Bemis Junior High School Principal
