Plumbrook Announcements

  • Dear Plumbrook Families,

We are looking forward to seeing you at our Parent Information Night: Digital Detox tomorrow, December 3rd, from 6:00–7:00 p.m. in the school gym.
This evening is designed to help families think about healthy technology use and how to create a better balance between screens and real-life connection. Our presenter will share easy, realistic strategies for reducing digital overwhelm, building positive habits at home, and supporting students’ emotional and physical well-being. Families will walk away with practical tips they can use right away.

Next week, December 8–12, our wonderful PEP group will be hosting the Santa Shop. Students always enjoy choosing thoughtful gifts, and this event wouldn’t be possible without the help of volunteers. PEP is still looking for extra hands to assist with setup, helping students shop, and wrapping gifts.

If you are able to give some time, please email plumbrookpep@outlook.com. Any amount of help is truly appreciated.

Thank you for your continued support of our Knights community!

    Warmly,
    Mrs. Poleski

    This Week at Plumbrook 💙✨

As we step into a season centered on gratitude, our Plumbrook community continues to shine with generosity and kindness. This week, we’re excited to launch two important giving opportunities: our Toys for Tots collection and our Non-Perishable Food Drive. These initiatives allow our Knights to see the power of helping others and the impact of small acts of kindness.

Throughout November, we will also be focusing on our character trait of gratitude - recognizing and appreciating the good around us, the people who support us, and the chance to make a difference in someone else’s day.

Thank you for helping us model generosity, gratitude, and community spirit for our students. Together, we continue to make Plumbrook a place where kindness grows. 💙🌟

  • Reminder:
    Phishing Emails
District staff, students and parents have recently received a large number of phishing emails, coming from UCS staff, with the subject "You are invited!" When someone clicks to view the invitation, or on any of the links in the email, they are prompted to login with their email credentials. Once they provide their credentials, their account is then compromised and used to send out more of these attacks to others in the district.
If you receive one of these emails, do NOT open, do NOT click on the links, do NOT respond or submit personal information to these requests.
Remember to always be cautious when clicking on emails that you were not expecting, and NEVER provide your login information when requested by email.

    ✨ Hey Plumbrook Families! ✨

Can you believe we’re only 10 days away from the first day of school?! 🎉 Now’s the perfect time to dust off those school routines. Start easing into earlier bedtimes (so everyone’s bright-eyed and ready for learning), practice packing a lunch in the morning 🥪, and even set aside about 20 minutes to eat it ⏱, just like at school!

We can’t wait to see you at Knights’ Day (Meet the Teacher) on Monday, August 25th from 5:00–6:30 pm. 🏰👑 It’s going to be a great evening to meet teachers, drop off supplies, and kick off our year together.

There’s a lot of exciting info in this Smore. Grab a snack, maybe read it in chunks, and soak it all in. 📖✨

  • Hello Plumbrook Families – We’re Back (and We’ve Had Coffee)!

Sharpen those pencils, find those lunchboxes (check the fridge from June?), and dust off the backpacks—it’s almost time! School officially starts on Tuesday, August 26, and we are beyond excited to welcome our Knights back for the 2025–2026 school year. We’re energized, prepared, and maybe just a little emotional that summer flew by. But ready or not, here we go—and it’s going to be a fantastic year.

This Smore is packed with important information to help you start the year smoothly—so please be sure to read it thoroughly (yes, all the way to the bottom!). Let’s do this, Plumbrook!

  • Dear Parents,

We know it’s only June and you’re still scraping sand out of your car from the last beach day, but we wanted to give you a friendly heads-up: the school supply lists are ready! 📝✏️

Yes, it may feel a bit early… but if you’ve ever experienced the Great Glue Stick Shortage of August or the Wild Hunt for the Elusive Plastic Folder (with prongs, not pockets!) — you know why we’re telling you now.

    Beat the back-to-school madness.
Avoid the "Mom, they’re all out of crayons!" meltdown in Aisle 5.
Shop early. Shop with snacks. And maybe... shop alone.

You'll thank us in August when you're sipping iced coffee instead of wrestling someone over the last pack of dry-erase markers.

Check our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/plumbrookelementary or the Plumbrook website https://www.uticak12.org/Domain/27 for updated lists.

Happy shopping and may the deals be ever in your favor! 🛒

    Sincerely,
    Your Supply-List-Loving Plumbrook Team

    Good morning,
I hope that you are staying warm and safe. We will see everyone on Thursday!!
Here are 10 fun and engaging indoor activities to do with children when it's too cold to go outside:

    1. Build a Fort
Use blankets, pillows, and furniture to create a cozy fort. Add some fairy lights or flashlights for ambiance and enjoy snacks or a story time inside.
    2. Have a Movie Marathon
Pick a theme (e.g., animated classics, superhero movies) and set up a mini home theater with popcorn and cozy blankets.
    3. Bake Together
Choose a kid-friendly recipe like cookies, cupcakes, or homemade pizza. Let the kids help with mixing, decorating, and, of course, taste-testing.
    4. Create an Arts and Crafts Station
Set up a space with paper, crayons, markers, glue, and other materials. Try making holiday decorations, DIY cards, or simple origami.
    5. Science Experiments
Conduct simple science experiments like making slime, baking soda and vinegar volcanoes, or DIY lava lamps using household items.
    6. Treasure Hunt or Scavenger Hunt
Hide small items around the house and give the kids clues to find them. You can also make it educational by incorporating riddles or challenges.
    7. Dance Party
Create a playlist of upbeat songs and have a fun dance-off. It's a great way to burn energy and lift everyone's spirits.
    8. Board Games and Puzzles
Pull out family-friendly board games or work on a big puzzle together. It's a great way to bond and practice problem-solving skills.
    9. Storytelling or Puppet Shows
Use toys, stuffed animals, or DIY sock puppets to create a story or mini theater production. Kids can make up their own scripts or act out a favorite book.
    10. Indoor Obstacle Course
Set up a safe and creative obstacle course using furniture, cushions, or tape on the floor. Include challenges like crawling under tables or hopping on one foot between markers.

    Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we approach the season of Thanksgiving, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for being part of the Plumbrook Elementary family. Each day, I feel incredibly blessed to work alongside such dedicated staff, enthusiastic students, and supportive families who make our school such a wonderful community.

Your partnership in your children’s education, your encouragement, and the values you instill in them are vital to their success. Together, we are shaping a bright future for every student who walks through our doors.

This Thanksgiving, I hope you and your family enjoy moments filled with joy, connection, and reflection. May your holiday be blessed with warmth and happiness, and may you know how truly valued you are as part of our school community.

Thank you for all you do to support Plumbrook Elementary. It is a privilege to serve as your principal and to be a part of this amazing school.

    With gratitude and warm wishes,
    Mrs. Miller

    Happy Sunday,
After a crazy 10 days of 1/2 days and no school days, it is great to be able to have full days through November 26th.

November's character trait is Gratitude. Please support this trait by showing gratitude at home and in the community.

    Mrs. Miller

  • Although school meals are free to students this year through the State of Michigan, families are highly encouraged to complete the Education Benefits Form through the UCS Family Portal. Completion of the Education Benefits Form helps the district receive educational funding such as Title I funds and technology funding for computers and internet access, while also providing qualifying families with discounts for athletic fees, college applications and SAT, ACT and AP testing.

    Happy Friday,
So much has been happening here at Plumbrook this week. PEP hosted the Welcome Back Carnival on Tuesday to a great number of families attending, NWEA continues to be taken by our students and we had our first Take Cover drill for the 24/25 school year.

Thank you for your continued support with your child's education!!
