Join us for a special event aimed at inspiring and empowering individuals in our community to pursue rewarding careers as paraprofessionals within Utica Community Schools. By partnering with the Chaldean Community Foundation and Oakland University, we are offering an exciting opportunity to learn about the pathways to becoming a paraprofessional or future educator by pursuing a teaching certificate with the help and support of our partners.

What type of positions are available?
UCS has three paraprofessional roles:
- Health Paraprofessional:
• Work with students with various health conditions (such as diabetes and personal health care needs) and support everyday health care of students coming into the office.• Health paraprofessionals receive specific training from the district nurses for students with health conditions. - English Language Paraprofessional:
• Implement training from teachers and administrators for instruction and academic intervention.• Serve as an instructional foundation to present information to students in logical sequence. - Special Services Paraprofessional:
• Provide support for student success while fostering independence.• Implement positive behavior support plans.• Follow procedures for student care related to daily disability and medical related needs.

- Rewarding job with daily interaction with children.
- Work a daily schedule that aligns with student schedules (daily up to seven hours).
- Pay starts at $16.93 per hour.

I'm interested in pursuing a teaching certificate, how do I do this?
UCS has partnered with Oakland University to help individuals pursue a teaching certificate. Prospective students should follow this link to identify which programs might be right for them.
