Applications for the 2025-26 kindergarten class will open on January 6, 2025.
Kindergarten Open House
Parents should circle Wednesday, February 5, 2025 on their calendar. All 25 UCS elementary will host a Early Childhood, Kindergarten and Young Fives Open House that evening from 7:00-8:30 p.m. The evening is an opportunity to meet our staff and learn more about our programs and services.Kindergarten Eligibility
Children can be enrolled for kindergarten or our Young Fives program if they turn five on or before December 1, 2025. Please note – if your child is born between September 2 and December 1, 2020, you will need to complete a waiver to register in Utica Community Schools. A waiver is not required for children who were born on or before September 1, 2020.Schools of Choice
Families interested in enrolling in UCS from outside of our district may apply through our Schools of Choice process which will open on January 6, 2025.

Registration Requirements
During registration, you will be asked to provide the following information. You may upload these forms along with the immunization records or turn them in at the school office.
- Child's birth certificate
- Michigan driver's license, Michigan ID or a work photo ID
- Current property tax bill, current lease agreement or closing documents (for recently purchased homes)
- Immunization records
- Records must detail the day, month and year your child was vaccinated against measles, rubella, diphtheria, tetanus, polio, hepatitis B and other serious illnesses. If you need information on immunizations waivers or forms, please visit this Health department Forms link.
- Vision and Hearing Screening
- Michigan law requires hearing and vision screening prior to starting Kindergarten. For information on free screenings available through Macomb County, please visit this link. You may upload these forms along with the immunization records, or turn in to the school office.
- Dental Screening
- The Kindergarten Oral Health Assessment Program through the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services requires Kindergarten students to have a dental assessment prior to starting Kindergarten. For resources available through the Macomb County Health Department, please visit this link.
- Kindergarten Waiver Form
- According to Michigan Law, if a child residing in Utica Community Schools is not five years of age on September 1, 2024 but will be five years of age on or before December 1, 2024, the parent or legal guardian of that child may enroll the child in kindergarten for the 2024-2025 school year if the parent or legal guardian notifies the school district in writing. To request a waiver, please complete this form and return to your child's school.
