Dear UCS Special Education Staff and Families:

We are proud to begin a journey with you that will allow us to tell the special education story in Utica Community Schools.

Our district will be joining a statewide initiative that celebrates the successes of our students with disabilities.  We view our special needs students as having limitless potential. Inspired by our students, the Limitless Potential program will celebrate the people and students of our special services program and how they make a difference in our community.

Through this initiative, we will inform our community about special education, the value it brings to our schools and neighborhoods, and the many successes we celebrate in our students and staff.

The work of this special education team – students, staff, parents, and families – makes the difference. In UCS, our offerings begin with early childhood special education and extend through programs for autism spectrum disorder, learning disabilities, cognitive and emotional impairments, and more, including post-high school options. We are excited to be strengthening our community connections, including partnerships with local businesses and the City of Sterling Heights.

We hope you will join us on this journey.  Our profiles will be featured in our school and district newsletters, websites, TV stations, and through our social media sites – Facebook, X (Twitter), YouTube and Instagram. You can learn more at this link.

Special education has the power to transform lives and unlock everyone’s limitless potential. Together, we can create an environment where every child thrives!

    Sincerely,

    Robert S. Monroe
    Superintendent of Schools
