Bus Driver Highlights:
- $21 per hour starting pay (one of the top rates in Macomb County)
- Experienced bus drivers receive a hiring bonus, up to $2,500 based on years of experience - contact Monique Potts for more details: email or (586) 797-7113
- Paid training
- 5-6 hours per day to begin
- Schedule aligns with school calendar
- Nine paid holidays per year
- Five personal days per year
- Medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits (subject to availability and eligibility)
The Route to Becoming a Bus Driver:

- Obtain Commercial Learners Permit (CPL) from Secretary of State (UCS provides study booklet)
- Go through Department of Transportation processing (pre-employment background check, drug screen, fingerprinting and TB test)
- Undergo theory, behind the wheel and beginner bus driver training with a UCS trainer
- Take a third-party road test to obtain Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
