The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) can help students access FREE money for training for Michigan's hottest jobs, training for trades, and two-year and four-year colleges.
The amount of aid provided is based on financial need. Students may be offered grants or loans from the federal government to help pay for tuition.
By applying for FAFSA, students may also qualify for FREE money for college or trade school from the State of Michigan.

We encourage EVERY senior to apply for the FAFSA! It is FREE to apply. The application opens on December 1st.
When completing the FAFSA, every senior student AND one parent will need to create an FSA ID:

Families can complete the FAFSA at this link: FAFSA® Application | Federal Student Aid
We recommend having the parent and student sit together to work on the FAFSA.

Once You Finish Your Application...
You will receive an award letter from the school or program that states how much the cost of attendance and the amount of assistance is awarded.
You may need to provide an enrollment deposit to the school or program you will attend. This can cost between $50 and $500.
To receive State of Michigan grants, create an account in the MiSSG Student Portal (See below).
The State of Michigan offers students a variety of scholarships and grants for which they may be eligible. Within 3-5 days of completing the FAFSA, the State of Michigan will receive and review financial information to determine if a student is eligible for financial assistance or scholarships.
